DR PRIYADARSANAN DHARMA RAJAN

Principal Investigator & Team leader

Project Manager

Priyadarsanan has a doctoral degree from University of Calicut (Kerala), and his research interests include conservation biology, insect biosystematics and conservation bio-control. A trained taxonomist and ecologist, Priyadarsanan has authored two books, more than 50 research papers, several popular articles and described 40 species new to science. Currently working as Senior Fellow at Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), Bangalore. He is a member of various National and International Scientific & academic bodies, Board of Editors of many journals. In last three years, he is also serving as the member of Board of Governors of Fresh Water Working group of Society for Conservation Biology.

He is an Environment and development Professional with 15 years of experience. He completed his Masters and MPhil in Environment Management from Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam. He is a smart, quick-witted and outgoing person who keeps the work atmosphere fun-filled. He is an ardent traveler and a passionate badminton player. He has been working with ATREE CERC since its inception and has designed several innovative projects for Wetland Conservation.

MANEEJA MURALI

Senior Program Officer

REEMA ANAND

Senior Program Officer

She is a post graduate in Zoology from Kerala University (S.N.College, Cherthala). She joined CERC as a program officer in ATREE CERC Habitat Learning project on  May 2017. Her area of interest includes; Fish Taxonomy, Ichthyology, Biodiversity and Education. She had been working with KUFOS (Kerala University for Fisheries and Ocean Studies) for the last four years as SRF under Centre for Inland Fishery Database (Kerala State Govt. Plan Project).

A passionate researcher on human-nature interactions, gender and environment, and agriculture. She is particularly interested in addressing the problems at the grassroots level and always strikes a chord with the local community. She has experience in technology modules in Natural Resource Management, particularly in the primary sector, to initiate institutional interventions and building awareness among farmers, especially women in building their livelihoods with climate-resilient technologies. She is the project lead “Synthetic sanitary pad free panchayat” and apart from gender-related activities, she has been leading the interventions in the agriculture sector, playing a key role in the promoting responsible agriculture in the rice bowl of Kerala.

SREEKUTTAN V N

Program Officer

Sreekuttan V N is currently working as a project assistant in ATREE-CERC Alappuzha. He completed his graduation in Zoology from S.B college changanacherry under M.G University and completed his masters in Zoology from S.D College Alappuzha under the University of Kerala. He is an active member of the Center for Research on Aquatic Resources (CRAR). His works in ATREE involves developing innovative products out of the troublesome aquatic weed “Eichhornia crassipes”, provide technical support and actively engage in all projects carried out by ATREE-CERC. Recently he developed handmade paper from water hyacinth. His aspire is to become a researcher in the field of conservation biology.

PARVATHY SUNDAR

Program Officer

Parvathy is a Graduate in Electronics and Communications from Kerala University. She is a passionate and energetic girl who is interested to work with the children. She is working with School Children in Alappuzha and Kottayam to impart Environmental Education to the studets.

SUNITHA

Community Resource Person

Care Taker cum Attendant

KM Poovu has been working with ATREE-CERC for the past seven years as a community resource person. He has single-handedly managed to bring together several communities towards the protection of Vembanad lake. An active environmentalist and fishermen, Poovu is a hero in his community and helps in various community led interventions by CERC.

Sunitha chechi as we all call her is a loving person who has been part of the team for the past ten years. She takes care of day to day affairs and up keep of the office.
